Dana Brown Professional Learning Services offers courses and coaching in-person, online-asynchronous/self-paced and/or live webinar.  Custom courses are available.  General format of courses listed below are 3 hour workshop, followed by 3 hour instructional coaching on-site in classrooms.  Resources for all courses are provided to participants digitally.

Next Generation ELA & Math Standards Curriculum Mapping

Participants will use the NYSED crosswalks to conduct a checkup on their instructional practices, revisit curriculum maps, and gather additional resources to finetune alignment to the Next Generation standards in their content area.  Examples of the standards in action via classwork and homework will be shared.

Quality Remote/Hybrid Teaching

Online teaching continues to play a role in the education of students at all levels.  Educators will be prepared to utilize The Flexible Futures Instructional Framework and explore planning and preparation practices, learning environment and delivery, providing equity and access to rigorous instruction, and most importantly, personalizing instruction using technology.

Science Standards and Investigations at All Levels

This course is delivered grade-level specific/course-specific to support science teachers as they shift to the new learning standards and assessments in their content area.  Participants will walk through the investigations relative to their grade levels, explore the concepts of storylines and phenomena, and understand the specific literacy skills to support in educating future scientists.

P-3 Teaching & Learning

P-3 Teaching and Learning:

Learn how literacy, social emotional learning, and cultural education come together in the early childhood classroom.  Participants will explore research-based practices and the science of reading to create early childhood learning environments that reflect developmentally appropriate instruction and practices.  Resources will be shared in reference to supporting multilingual learners, implementing the P-3 Continuum, and cultural responsiveness.  Local community providers of UPK services are encouraged to attend alongside district staff.
